What We Believe
The following are the core beliefs of Building A Temple which are based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Spirit, Soul, and Body.
Concerning the Scriptures:
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It was given to us as the truest source of spiritual revelation and eternal truth. In its original writing, it is Spirit-inspired. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths.
Concerning God:
We believe that there is only one true God. God is One existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal. Throughout the scripture God has revealed Himself to us in numerous ways, including as Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, Provider, Healer, Helper, Savior, and many others. He is perfectly Holy, loving, and truthful.
Concerning Jesus Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God’s glory and nature to mankind. In His earthly incarnation He lived a perfect and sinless life and gave Himself in obedience to death on the cross, making atonement for the sins and penalties of humanity. He died, was buried, and was resurrected to life on the third day. He was glorified, ascended into heaven as humanity’s only Savior and Lord. He shall come again to claim His Bride, the Church, and to judge the living and the dead.
Concerning Holy Spirit:
We believe in the sanctifying guidance and power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is active in the church and in the lives of every man and woman and by His indwelling us, we are enabled to live a holy life and minister to others supernaturally. We believe that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts He imparts are available to us to bring power and encouragement to every believer.
Concerning the Kingdom of God
We believe that the Kingdom of God describes the rule of God over all of creation and is without end. Attempts have been made by men and angels to overthrow God’s dominion in the earth, there has never been a threat to His reign or His power. By the power of the Holy Spirit at work in the world, God governs and sustains everything that exists from His throne in Heaven, through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Concerning Salvation*:
We believe that we are saved by God’s Grace alone! His grace is sufficient. Jesus Christ took on flesh and entered His creation, and being empowered by the Holy Spirit fulfilled these promises to overcome every curse of sin, sickness, and the devil. After living a sinless life, Jesus died on the cross, taking the punishment for the sin of the world (redemption), and offering reconciliation with God to all those who would believe in Him. Anyone can be restored to fellowship with God through repentance for your sins, believing and receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
* “Sozo” is the Greek word for salvation, yet it’s meaning goes beyond just the forgiveness of sins. According to Strong’s Concordance, Sozo also carries the idea of being physically healed of diseases and to be delivered from your enemy. In the spiritual sense, that enemy is the devil and his demons.
Concerning Healing, and Deliverance
We believe that by the stripes placed on His body by whips and thorns, Jesus purchased the healing of our physical bodies, and by His death on the cross as a righteous sacrifice, He disarmed the demonic powers and removed their hold on those who believe in Him.
We believe that these three elements of salvation: forgiveness of sin, physical healing, and deliverance from the authority of the devil are promises to believers, paid for by the atonement of Jesus Christ.
Concerning the Church
We believe that the church is the worldwide body of Christ, of which Jesus is the head. The members of the church are those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit which is evidenced by the repentance of sin and confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to the lost world.
